Welcome to the Lander Church of Christ

Our Church History

The Lander Church of Christ has been serving the community of Lander, Wyoming since being planted in the 1950’s. Our congregation is active in the community and focused on the mission of God locally and abroad, cultivating healthy disciples, and proclaiming the Kingdom of God.

Keeping the Faith

The Lander Church of Christ is dedicated to keeping the faith and proclaiming the good news about Jesus and the Kingdom of God. We believe in nurturing a strong spiritual foundation for faith family and serving the community. We aim to love God with all our being and love our neigbors well. We seek to be inquisitive students of scripture who take seriously the words of our God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ, being led by the Holy Spirit into all truth and holiness.

Spiritual Community

Our church is a place where individuals come together to form a spiritual community of saints who seek to honor God. We walk alongside one another through life aiming to encourage and strengthen eachother as we look to Jesus, the author and perfector of our faith. Join us in building a strong and connected body of believers by using your gifts to build up our shared faith!

Becoming a Christian?

This question has been asked by millions of people over the last two thousand years. While one little brochure cannot explain every intricate question in detail, the basic questions can certainly be addressed.

Jesus could not have been clearer about the way of salvation than when He said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6)

If you want to find the path to eternal salvation, you must look to Jesus. Pray that God will be your guide as you study His word, the Bible. You may also ask God to lead you to people that are willing to study the Bible with you.

What Scripture Says:

About seven weeks after Jesus’ death, God directed Peter to preach a bold sermon to the people who had demanded Jesus’ execution. The people realized that in their rage and confusion, they had called for the death of the son of God. As they became convicted of their horrible mistake, they stopped Peter’s sermon and asked, “Brothers, what shall we do?” (Acts 2:37)

The Lord, through Peter, gave the people a way to be forgiven for their terrible act. Peter’s answer was, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” (Acts 2:38)

Three thousand people were so touched and convicted by the opportunity for salvation that they were immediately baptized.

Their faith in Jesus and His power to forgive made them want to follow the Savior. If God could forgive people for killing His son, He can forgive you and me, too!

What’s the purpose of baptism?

Baptism is the moment when God (through the blood of Jesus) cleanses believing individuals of their sins and remembers them no more.

as far as the east is from the west,
so far does he remove our transgressions from us.  Psalms 103:12

Baptism is where a person puts to death the old self and puts on “the new self.”

The apostle Paul wrote in Romans 6:6 “We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin.”

The apostle Paul also wrote, “You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. (Galatians 3:26-27)

Jesus lives inside baptized people through His spirit. From the point of our baptism and as we continue to grow in the knowledge of God’s Word, people should notice a change in us.

Romans 6:1-4 says… What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? 2 By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life.

Others will see Jesus because we now live for Him. Jesus does not want us to be embarrassed of Him or deny Him. After all, He gave His life for us. To put it plainly, Jesus said He would be ashamed of us if we are ashamed of Him and His words. Jesus wants us to live lives devoted to Him every day. (Luke 9:23-27)

Through His grace He will give us the eternal salvation we desire. After all, He’s already paid the price through His death to provide the salvation that He desires us to have. (Romans 10:9-11)
